Hi Everyone,
Well, I was able to get the radio to function correctly and now I can do the alignment and man was it way off!!!!

Most of the alignment went fine until I got to the transmit power area. The 1st issue was that I could not get the finals to adjust to the correct ma reading. The driver adjusted fine. When I went to the finals I could get one final to adjust to 50ma but when the second one "turned on" the ma reading would jump to 300+ma. I could never get it to adjust to 100ma for both finals. Second, the power is way down on this radio. It will only adjust to 4.5watts on am and I can only get about 11 watts pep on SSB. It feels like one of the finals is dead.

I am using the alignment procedures for the 98VHP as I could not find and service docs for the 99v2.

Any thoughts on my findings or suggestions on a better alignment process for this radio?

Thanks as always!!!

Power is restored. The owner (whom I assume did some of the other work) replaced the driver and finals (IRF 520's) with fake/bad ones. I installed new ones from Digikey and all is good. Now the alignment....

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
