Bought on a whim, eh? (makes you unique around this place).
I thought the U980
was simple. (If you leave the ft450d at home).
I’ve looked at the small ones like that, but wondered if reception was going to be an irritant (if RF Gain & Squelch are meaningfully good).
Mag-mount antenna? Cigar-lighter power cord? That’s my other concern (not an opinion on what you want) as metro areas are already too durned noisy.
As a truck driver,
it’s the sheer distance away from a problem which creates or disappears options. Choices. “Traffic Report” (to me) means more than there’s a slowdown ahead. Being on a clock sharpens this desire to have advance notice.

I can see the appeal of an extra-small radio. But I’d want “relative” comparisons to try against it (my other radios).
A PRESIDENT
Bill fits the picture I have of “small”. Its cousins in price & size ,also
A quality external speaker — any description — would be important to ascertain “rig quality”. I’d like to have the stereo on, perhaps, with the CB muted to listen for key words. If the built-in speaker does this, that’s ideal.
