Giving up on Microsoft????

Thanks for all the replies gentleman. Any time I answer a question, I always put I am not an electronics technician. The first time I met Bob at Bob's CB it fascinated me how quick he can say. Its the cap, "right here," and replace it then the radio works. Other shops will say, it dead- I will sell you a new Stryker. I was taught to build computers by a friends father who was a industrial HVAC Engineer, back when your choices were IBM, Tandy, build from parts. I leaved to match up the PC components for the job they were doing. They computers shows were big and people were replacing high quality OEM parts with whatever was cheapest parts from, China from the show. I would then get a call that the whole computer is down after installing the new piece. I had started collecting used parts for my business at the time. I still have a great deal. Now a days it would be like saying I have a bunch of new in boxes 23 channel Cybernet main boards. I am just kinda done with the total online Microsoft Account idea. I think I may be going to Linux Mint full time.

I would go with Windows10 and the SSD. You will be better off with support when you need help for hardware or software issues. No Microsoft Account is needed with 10 or 11. You just need to disable it. Other tools are available for disconnecting ALL phone home communications.

I have worked in IT for almost 40 years now. I hold many Micro$oft certs and deal with Windoze PCs and servers daily. My main PC runs Linux KDE Neon, but for my photography, I use a Mac (which has much better color management). I have one Windoze PC that I use to program radios; it does not have internet access.

FWIW, I have been a Linux user since the early 90s.
