I have a golden eagle 1k, that i bought 30 plus years ago. It worked great all the time I had it in service. I hooked it up a couple days ago just to see if it would work, it lights up, tubes light up, but there is nothing happening when I key up. I know NOTHING about how these things work, although I am guessing it's a relay, or whatever makes the relay work. As I said I know nothing about working on this amp, but would like to bring it back to life. Any input or suggestions will be appreciated. Or if there is someone that works on them, that info would help also. Thanks 333. I live in west Texas.

It wasn't new when you got it 30 years back. Should date to the mid-1980s IIRC. If you just don't hear that "click" from the relay when you key the radio, odds are that the filter capacitor for the keying circuit has failed. This drops the voltage feeding the relay too low for it to activate.

Just the same it has reached the age where it will need ALL the electrolytic capacitors changed. They expire from age alone, even when the mileage is low. Finding someone nearby to service it will be like finding an expert to fix your 1972 air-cooled VW bus. Yeah, he's out there, but probably not nearby.
Shipping it out for a 40-year tuneup won't be cheap, and shipping damage is a real risk unless you take extreme measures packing it up.
Is this the one with the blace face and a row of LEDs along the bottom of the front panel, serves as a modulation indicator? Just curious.
