I have been using a discone for a while now. Works almost too well....some channels I have to attenuate. Brand I have is a workman/tram if I remember correctly. I picked it up years ago for $25 at a hamfest. http://www.randl.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=30893. Couple pics of my install. 33 ft on one of my homemade tower standoffs (angle iron/u bolts).

I and some buddys have had good luck with the radioshack one, can even transmit on 2m and 440 bands as well as (murs and gmrs , with good swr) if your into that

Not bad spec's...but all bands from 50 MHz to 1.3 GHz and usable even on transmit...
