Courtney Campbell Causeway.
This one is in Dunedin:
back in the late 80's they used to regularly race bikes at nite across the courtney-campbell. one nite about 1am as we were heading from tampa back to largo (rosary off clearwater-largo rd), the causeway was blocked by a group as 2 bikes started their race-by the last traffic lite on the tampa side, in front of a strip bar on the north, a resort is now on the south side. about a minute or 2 later, they let us drive on. by the time we drove the 15 miles or whatever to where the 'visitor center' is (was? before the bay bridge....which wasn't there back then), a car had pulled out & both bikes hit it. nobody survived, bikes or car. the crackdown on racing began.
