H-Plane and E-Plane

They are not world class antenna design engineers, so the reason for the post is, I'm looking for answers to the questions I had. The engineers that might have been more knowledgeable of the topic were too busy to get back to me. I was running out of time. Besides, is the ARRL Coordinate System the standard scale to use? I'm not sure if a recent <insert your most prestigious RF design university> PhD graduate is taught about that particular scale. (ps. the smartest engineers appear not to even come from the US, so ARRL standards may not, well, exist in their minds)

Now, the data I have is in elevation and azimuth terms. I will make a bold assumption that azimuth is the H-plane data.
