A complete set of matching meters. (y) I managed to acquire these the other day from someone to whom I am grateful. Now my problem is trying to figure out what I can use them in. Plate current to 2 amps, plate voltage to 5 Kv, filament voltage, AC line voltage monitor, a multimeter, and an RF power output meter. Hmmmmmmmm.....................I wonder..............................:D

    What to use them in?

    Great looking set of meters.

    Idea(y)

Put them in a box and ship them to my QTH, I will use them in a picture of a home brew pair of 4-1000A.

All joking aside great find they will really set off any project you put them in.

I was thinking about a pair of 3-500z's in a wheeled 48 inch rack cabinet as a winter project next year. It is guarenteed to be the heaviest amp in it's power class with what I have for power supply and tank circuit components. Plate transformer is 85 pounds and the capacitors are 10Kv Jennings vacuum variables. Seems like such a waste for just 1500 watts or so.............................So call me wasteful then.(y) At least when something goes wrong it will just send out smoke signals until I turn it off.

Nice try Doc but I ain't biting. :D

A pair of 3-5's would be great, 160 through 10 meters.

1500 watts is plenty, I think up North you are allowed 2500 watts?

If you decide to make the build please post pics that will be a good looking homebrew project with those meters.

I'm sure you will know about it. :D

Yeah 2250 pep is our legal limit here but like you said 1500 is plenty and not really worth going for the extra to make legal limit. I am hoping it will end up as a winter project for next winter. If it pans out I will document it here.

Is it 2250 watts PEP input power? It won't be difficult to drive the Larcan module to that power level on 6 meters.

My discussion with Industry Canada is that they don't have time or resources to worry much about how much power people are operating. They seem to be very interference and complaint driven. If no one is creating or experiencing problems there is no need to track someone down and slap their hands. Essentially do whatever you want, don't bother anyone, and everyone is happy.

That has been my experience with industry Canada as well.

The 2250 watt pep limit is output power for any type of SSB emission SSB,PSK,RTTY etc. We have a 750 watt carrier limit on any type of carrier mode beit AM,CW,or FM.

I do miss it a bit. I always loved the RF work especially when installing new gear. Installing and literally building the Nautel Q-20 from an empty cabinet and all the modules and running all the hardline was a blast. What I don't miss are the late night/early morning callouts, the weekend callouts, the evening callouts, the drives to Digby/Weymouth in a snowstorm, the incompetence of the general manager that was afraid to stand up for the employees and the cheap, arrogant, egotistical asshole of an owner of MBS. It was a good 22 years but I am where I will remain right now. The money is 1.5 times or more than I ever made at MBS, no callouts, my free time is mine,it's 4 minutes from home, and if I need something I ask for it and my lead-hand gives me a slip to take to the store room and I get it. No waiting, no bitching, no justifications. When people I work with now bitch about the company I tell them about MBS and Robert Pace. That shuts them up right away.
