Help 99n4

I have a 99n4 swings to 400 watts fine v17 pot all the way up I have low modulation. I've even tried my silver eagle on this thing wide open talking into it like it's a noise canceling mic.

Has anyone turned up the trimmer pot inside that controls the modulation limit for AM?

How much do you get on sideband?

Yes I did last night number 17 am mod pot all the way up and no difference.

Are you using this on the ham bands or 11 meters?

I was still using 10 meter occasionally but I have other 10 meter radios I can use

Do you mean how much do I use sideband or modulation on sideband?

I was asking what kind of power reading you see on sideband.

Would also be good to know if the wattmeter is reading peak power or average power?

400 watts pep on a bird 43 with a peak kit. on AM

At this point I have lost track of which RCI/Galaxy "N" radio is which. Went to Gargle, and it can't find a "99N4". Copper lists an "N2", but it won't deliver 400 Watts.

Though sure I had seen someone selling that one, but that model number baffles Gargle. Galaxy web site doesn't mention it.

I'm having a hard time making 400 Watt peaks agree with the 'low modulation' description.

When Galaxy made service manuals available it was easy to find out what's inside a particular model.

So just what's inside this one?
