I've Recently Swapped The Galaxy DX 99V I Usually Run In The Mobile With My President Lincoln . Since Doing This , Many Of My Locals Here Have Asked Me About My Radio , Or Have Told Me That Something Is Wrong With My SetUp. They Say I'm Not Nearly As Loud As I Was . I Didn't Tell Anyone Here That I Switched Radios , But They Can Tell From What I'm Hearing . Now I'm Kinda Confused Here . My Lincoln Has Been Tuned By Supposedly The Best In The Business , It Does 10 - 15 More Peak Watts On AM With An MRF 477 Final , And On Both Radios I Run A D104M6B . ( haven't tried the RK56 yet on the lincoln .) I'm Wondering If There Is Anything That I Can Do To My Lincoln For More Modulation ( mainly on AM ) , Or If I Can Modify A 99V So That I Can Get Equal Performance In Regards To Sideband And Recieve , But Still Keep That "Big Radio" Sound. And Also , My 99V Has A SPA -1 Processor Installed That Is On All The Time . Not Sure If That Is What Would Make Any Difference Or Not . 8ZERO4. CDX - 804 .

The HR2510/2600/ Lincoln( and Jackson) rigs use what is know as low level modulation, were the audio is injected before the last RF amp stage in the radio, without getting too deep into it(and I am not an expert on this by any means) they just do not have the "Punch" of high level Modulation that is used in most Export CB`s.

Most of the Export Models use High level Modulation.

High Level inject`s the audio in series with the dc supply voltage to the RF power stages. This result in collector voltage`s that varies at an audio rate causing power output to change too.

It also has to do with class of bias of the driver and final, in what mode Ect,the high level CB style AM rigs like the 148/Grant, TRC-448,RG 33,and most exports( like the 99v ) just Sound louder on AM because of this. Its the nature of the beast<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">

NOW having said that, you can still get Good results by doing the Mods found on RogerBirds site for the 2510/Lincoln.

The Mic Gain Mod and the Vari power mod help these radios a Lot in AM Mode. And the SP-1A can also be used, altho a bit of a hassle to adjust for good sound on both SSB and AM(personal opinon)

If you want that Real BIG AM Radio sound might want to go back to the 99..........The 2510/Lincoln shines the brightest on SSB,A solid ,stable radio in this mode.
