How do they do it?

    High bidder could've retracted his bid before auction closed?

    I would check into this because I agree something doesn't seem right.

    Sounds like what fourstringburn stated, high bidder retracted their bid. Doesn't take much. A simple reason like not described the way they beleive it should be or it was the same person that bid on it and retracted the higher bid and won it with the lower bid. People are sneaky these days with EBay and do this kind of crap all the time. It's some BS. Especially when they know they can retract a bid very easily. Again, JMHO's.
