i saw a palomar 300a on ebay it has 2 tubes driving 4 and they are 6kd6 tubes, about how many watts will that amp do?

Dan

A standard four tube 6KD6 amp runs about 800 watts INPUT so figure about half that for output, so about 400 watts or so.Maybe the CB world gets more out of them but remember that the 6KD6 is a sweep tube and are made from almost pure unobtanium nowadays.

400 watts is a very noticable difference . even if you got 800 out of them the difference in your transmitted signal would be trivial between 800 and 400 watts . it wouldnt make or break a contact so keep the signal clean and let those unobtanium tubes live as long as possible ;)

IF the tubes aren't weak and the transformer isn't tired it should have an output between 350-400 watts pep max.
