Sirio tornado 5/8. It has an external coil. If I wanted to broadband it to have a wider freq range what could I do? Longer coil? Fatter surface area coil? Need ideas

Supposed to be a 1mhz spread as it sits.
That's awful. My Antron 99 does over 2 MHz with less than 1.8:1 SWR and my delta loop does even better than that.
If you need more bandwidth than 1 MHz spread then 5/8 wave GP is not the antenna to use!

The BW is a function of the diameter of the radiator and Q of the matching network. The inherent, narrower BW of the 5/8, results in higher gain lobes at the horizon.

Dipole has almost a 3mhz. I’ve just been thinking. Playing around. I stepped away for a while and now I want to go back to playing around. Astro still working fine. Just wanting more. I could take the matching coil off and just add a remote tuner at the base. But that’s way up there. And I’m way down here. Hahahah but I’ve considered it. A 22’ vertical and a remote tuner wouldn’t be bad maybe. Not sure what kinda lobes I’d really wind up with. Just playin
