What is your <2:1 BW now?Sirio tornado 5/8. It has an external coil. If I wanted to broadband it to have a wider freq range what could I do? Longer coil? Fatter surface area coil? Need ideas
Right now I can’t say it’s still in shipping. Supposed to be a 1mhz spread as it sits. What is your <2:1 BW now?
Nothing you can do. If you need more BW, buy a different antenna. You could try soldering a 50 ohm resistor across the feedpoint. That should give you all of the BW you could ever want.Right now I can’t say it’s still in shipping. Supposed to be a 1mhz spread as it sits.
Not after a dummy load bud. Good idea thoNothing you can do. If you need more BW, buy a different antenna. You could try soldering a 50 ohm resistor across the feedpoint. That should give you all of the BW you could ever want.
That idea was used widely in military and marine applications. Not after a dummy load bud. Good idea tho

That's awful. My Antron 99 does over 2 MHz with less than 1.8:1 SWR and my delta loop does even better than that.Supposed to be a 1mhz spread as it sits.
The BW is a function of the diameter of the radiator and Q of the matching network. The inherent, narrower BW of the 5/8, results in higher gain lobes at the horizon. That's awful. My Antron 99 does over 2 MHz with less than 1.8:1 SWR and my delta loop does even better than that.
If you need more bandwidth than 1 MHz spread then 5/8 wave GP is not the antenna to use!
Well pooThe BW is a function of the diameter of the radiator and Q of the matching network. The inherent, narrower BW of the 5/8, results in higher gain lobes at the horizon.
I personally, think it is a worthwhile compromise.Well poo
