They are good radios I have ran the 2510 , the 2600 , and a couple of Lincoln's.
The downside is most of them are plauged with Sonybond glue and old caps now so if you are keeping one best to do preventive manintenance on them.
Still not bad for a 80's radio.
I keep a couple.

I was doing some looking around on this subject and my guess would be is that you had a very early chipswitch. From what I could find those had the spur issues on 12 meters where the newer ones they had corrected that.
Also from what I found only the early versions had the possibility of going down to 15 meters, but he wasn't able to eliminate the spurs down there so he just ended up locking that functionality out of the chip all together.
This is stuff that I had no clue about and as such I apologize if I came off sounding like a complete ass.
