You should be able to. Your radio needs the scu-17 for CAT control (radio control thru HRD) and audio for digital modes using DM780 within the HRD software.
Your audio in and out comes from your computers sound card with the audio information coming from the scu-17 which can be picked up by HRD.
You need to check your computers audio sound card and select the Yaesu scu-17 USB codec which should have some reference to it on your sound card dialog box.
If your not sure how to do this, Look for the speaker icon on your computer task bar and right click and select Playback devices and look for a reference to the scu-17 and set for default, then open properties and set the levels at least 50 percent for now. Do the same for Recording devices.
It may seem backwards but "Playback devices" on your sound card is for transmit audio and "Recording devices" is for received audio. This is important to remember since all references to audio in Amateur radio software settings follow this path.
Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
