Few days ago I was asking/thinking about what tube to use for a home brew amplifier. Decided to go with the 3-500Z....so the project is on the "collect components" stage!!!

And now to the point......Im offered a good condition, low use IC-4KL, one owner (as per owner) at a resonable price.
I know its considered to be a great linear amp with excellent quality, so my point of view is buy it now enjoy the extra power I need and take my time with the 3-500 project.
The questions here are:
What checks/tests can i make before buying the IC-4KL?
Im I risking too much to get an old solid state with possible very costly repaires?
Whats the average "life" of solid state amps of this age/production period?
How much is a resonable price to pay for it?

Thanks for reading this. Panicos 5b4aet
