IC-7300 confusion

I've read about doing the 11 meter mod, not only on this forum but all over the net and the info is conflicting. Some info says to remove d416 for rx and d422 for tx. Other info says only remove d416. I could already receive 11m brand new out of the box just using the vfo but maybe removing a diode would improve 11m receive. The only reason I've thought of doing it is the convenience of talking to my local old timers on 11m ssb by simply switching antennas instead of radios. Can anyone clarify the functions of d416 and d422?

The MARS Mod opens up the transmit for pretty much everywhere & may widen the receive as well on some models.I have never read the information on the 7300 mod so I'm not sure what it does in that radio?

It opens rx up to 74.8Mhz
27MHz rx works from factory.
Well the info you googled and posted was incorrect. The radio already receives from 0.030 to 74.800MHz from the factory. The only diode that needs removed is d422 and it's done unless you want 60m. Lots of conflicting info on the net for sure.

Every picture I see before the mod has 422 419 416 413 and 401 with diodes in the 1st row, 2nd row has 414 411 408 405 402 with diodes and the 3rd row only bottom one which is 403.... Now mine has to be an azz clown because 1st row only have 422 419 416 and 401 but then the 2nd row has 423 420 skip one 414 411 408 405 402 and the 3rd row is the only one the same with 403 with diode. I am scared to take out 422 at top left corner and 416 b/c maybe this will not end well with a brick of a radio. I purchased the radio new from ebay direct from Japan and it works like a charm it will recieve 0.030.00 through 74.800.00. it will not transmit on 11 meters.

how do we get the diode matrix layout for a Japan version?

"USA buyers take note - there is only one (1) microprocessor for all of the IC-7300 models and markets. Put another way, no matter the market, its the same radio. All of its feaures and capabilities are controlled by a diode array next to the chip. You'll need to remove D420 and D423 to get the "USA version" - which is default English language, and USA bandplan capable. There are a few gaps in 80m band otherwise. Those are an easy-to-do task. After the chip removal, you'll need to set up the bands in the radios menu, save to a memory card. Download the IC-7300 service manual which shows the diode locations (easy to find). No diodes need be added (a relief!)." --- eBay user "chabarce-0"

Thank you N5YIZ for the diode matrix diagram for each version. But can someone explain the actual purpose of each diode? I have a ESP #06 version.

Hello I have a old school 2950 receives great on all modes and transmits great on AM but no transmit on SSB. Does anyone have any idea?
