Hey guys, I got the hookup on a mint IC-751.......I don't know to much about HF rigs and this will be my first........Right now I use a 10m rig (Ranger 2995DX) and I just want some ears.....My Ranger Has a really HOT RX.and sure does pick up alot of static, bleedover etc......I might be selling my Ranger for this one and I hope I'm making a good choice......If any of you Icom experts can give me the true's and con's with this particular rig it would be greatly appreciated....Also, what is a good power supply that would push it good......Thanks......<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

For that Icom try a SM-20 they are design for Icom radios. I have one with my Ic-756pro II and it sounds just a bit better than the Heil line. (Not that the Heils are bad) The IC-20 has a low cut switch on the bottom with a Mic gain that you really don't need.

Either way it's just depends what sound you are looking to get.

Phil my friend, My best advise is to do your homework

real well, and understand what it is that you are buying

here.

www.willcoele.com/my1B.htm

and

www.icomamerica.com/suppo..._751a.html

I own a mint like brand new R71A ! thats the matching

receiver (shortwave) that also plugs into the 751 and its

a gem, But you need to know the expense that you may

incur down the road.

Check out these two links and if you are still happy then

Go for It.

I got my R71A from # 748 aka. Hammerhead, my good

friend very soon to be a SK. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/tired.gif ALT="|I">

He wanted me to have it and it has the Lady talking speech

board and the BFO, a couple of rare features.

If I had a chance to buy a transceiver to match it like the

one you are considering then I would do so if the price was

right. They hook up together and make a wonderful pair.

Just be sure that you know exactly what is involved and

the possible expense down the road.

Good Luck....

Best Regards,

John

man,oh man,501 you always sound top-shelf in the buckeye! i'm now left trying to figure out what you're gonna sound like with the 930?!"SUPERB?" "AWESOME?"

"FANTASTIC?"....i'll think of something when i hear ya!LOL!

can't wait to make the connection;kenwood to kenwood;

930 to 440...hhhmmmmm,very interesting.

one quick note,be careful with the speech processor, they're

pretty darn sensitive on the kenwoods! usually gotta back down the mic gain somewhat so you won't overdrive it and sound like a "mud-duck"!! LOL!! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> congrats sir, enjoy.can't wait to hear her on the airwaves.lookin' forward to it......
