Greetings!

A friend of mine, who lives on the other side of town about a 50 mile trip, one way, from my QTH sent me 2 very short audio/video clips from a noise that he was picking up on 10m (28.368)? He gets it daily, but not early in the morning or late in the evening. As he goes from band-to-band, the higher he goes, the more it becomes a steady carrier with short "bleeps". I haven't heard it, but I thought one or more of you may have. He has an FT-710 that uses a 1/4 wave vertical, in this case, for 10 meters. He sent me the video I mentioned, and a photo. He thought it might me JT65.

It was easier to put the videos on the blog:

Does he, or a neighbor have solar?

I've heard such sounds on my SDR scanner in the VHF band for years. So much digital squawking and bleeping out there with el-cheapo Amazon/AliExpress electronic gear it could be anything.

nice link on the sig id wiki. i have listened through most of those signals starting with anything close to 30 kilohertz and haven't found a match.

the signal to me seems to be parsing data out, could be a mars station testing or a military signal. most of the solar interference signals seem more constant, at least the ones i have heard.

will keep looking

what frequency ? it could be a weather sond, OTH radar or a propagation beacon lots of OTH radar stations start out low and increase in frequency as the transmitter boosts the power output and it will also go across a lot of bands and do the exact same thing but what do I know?. Well, I don't chase OTH radar across the bands. I do know that that's the way most of them operate because I've listened to them on single frequencies. I don't think it's somebody's solar MPPT unless he has solar and is using something like a Victron charge controller. Those things are notorious military grade radio jammers in a plastic box. They will completely blanket a radio no matter what band you're on with high staccato RF noise and if the controller is just warming up to the first rays of the sun that would also explain why it starts out low. Beyond that I have no idea
