Reminds me of a winter in North Dakota...32 below zero and you can't even stand outside.Have to keep your car plugged in just to get it started and the heater well it cannot hardly keep up....That is damn cold 52 below....that hurts.. :shock:

When i was little my dad took me hunting with him :shock: I didnt know it would be that cold. This is when we just got some land and didnt have a blind in yet. So we went under a Evergreen. The geese looked like a tornado because our lake was the only one open. Thats when it was about -10 with the wind chill at -30.

Man that is cold DXman. We were up there for a few years always remembered keeping beer inside so it wouldn't freeze and burst and they had outside to plug our vehicles in. That pic reminds me how much I don't miss it LOL

Well...

I can only say....
WOW....that is cold..

colder then anything i was in..
when i had moved to northern NJ for a bit..
i got there in the winter (up in the mountians in ski country)

wouldn't you know it..
the winter i moved up there...for 1.5 to 2 weeks we saw temps
minis 26 and minis 28 ..

all i could say is thank GOD there was no wind chill to make it feel even colder...

I remember the first two winters we spent in our newly built home back in 1991-1992.You have all heard the noise the roof rafters etc. make as a new house settles the first year or two right? Throw a week or two of -35 degrees into the mix and see how well you can sleep with "rifle shots" going off periodically in the attic. :shock: House settling and frost getting into the lumber yielded a few sleepless nights. :?

That's to cold for me, temps have been above normal for a few weeks now in central Texas, yesterday the high was 81 !

NAS ADAK

We were stationed out in the aleutian chain on Naval Air Station ADAK. We also had some relatives stationed in Anchorage and Fairbanks at the same time. We caught mac flights to anchorage all the time to visit. And I would love to go back. I just miss the solitude and vastness of the whole area. I reading about Richard Proennekes book. Are you up there now?

No, I am here in Washington now, but have traveled to many of many places up there for 17 yrs working.
Worked at False Pass for 3 yrs and also at Cold Bay for awhile (with Reeve Airlines)...I am sure you know where these places are located.

Lived in Anchorage for 6 mo's while working for Wein Airlines and Flying Tigers ( '77).
