I can understand, sometime I get frustrated with the hobby and not being able to tune my own radios or having someone close you can trust !
It seems all the radios today are junk!! The damn mosfets are junk!! I just very frustrated..
I'm in the same club ! Keep shelling out more money and no-one local to help you test a radio after adjusting something. Good Luck
This is why I stick with vintage stuff. Tubes are king. But also a clean Grant XL, 148, FT101E, etc. I have played with newer Chinese stuff and it's always moved along within days.
Yeah I had a chinese cobra 148.. It died not long after I got it, and it had a nasty warble on sideband. Most new radios are junk.
Not only radios ! seems as if quality is headed out the window everywhere you look. Buy More & More
Manufacturers keep looking for cheaper ways to do things and still meet a minimum acceptable standard. Consumers keep looking for cheaper options. Quality used to be something to strive for, now it just means the majority of units sold made it through the warranty period.
Which is why I play with the 70's and 80's radios. They definitely made it through the warranty period.
Well, that and I don't need a magnifying glass to see the part I just broke.
