Mine is a newer version just has one 8417 tube..looks like it has the 2n 2222 keying transistor in it I was wondering if I could use a 2n 2907 that I have a bunch for my Texas Stars???.
All right thank you for getting back to me so quick before I change them out I will order some right now thank you
You caught me in the nick of time I was getting ready to swap if you don't mind me asking what is the difference ?
2n2222 are still very common and cheap! However, if you sub it for something else make sure the current rating is higher.
If memory serves me the 2n2222 has a switching current rating of 600 milliamps.
PS: If yours has an electrolytic cap across the coil of the relay. I would change that as well.
I just looked at the diagram. Check those diodes also, one rectifies the 12vac to DC the other rectifies the input to the transistor. My 2 cents, remember that amp is 40+ years old.
