Anyone know of a reputable place to purchase TX and Mod pots for the old JC Penny 6237. Can't find them any where. I believe the last owner was hungry or tried to get 300 watts out of this thing. LOL.

I have personally dealt with all of these vendors with good results. Just know the values you are looking for (milliwatt rating and resistance) and use the search options.

Some may physically appear different than the originals but will work the same. Sometimes a larger value (I.E. a 20k ohm in place of a 10k ohm) may give you a finer adjustment-less twitchy in a 10 turn version.

TY Dmans. I'm not familiar with this old silly thing but just tinkering with it. Just got a kick out of the pots. So I never really knew you could go up on the ohms. Interesting. Will go with 20 and see what happens. Thanks again.

A 0 to 20,000 ohm pot will cover the same resistances as a 10,000 ohm pot. If it is a single turn pot, the 20,000 will have a tendency to be more twitchy. However a 10 turn 20,000 ohm pot will be less twitchy. More pot turning with a lower range for each 1/4 turn as an example. Same holds true if you replaced a 10,000 ohm single turn (although actually about 270 degrees of a turn I think) with a 10,000 ohm 10 turn.

Even though old CB radios are not Swiss watches, there is something internal in my brain that wants to see a 50Ma adjustment at 50Ma-not 49Ma.
