I have just recieved a "ladder line" jpole antenna from a friend. After installing it i have discovered that the SWR is too high for my liking about 2.75:1 and i wanna check all measurements since this thing was pulled from a tree by the wind and i am not completely sure that all the wire is there.
My question is ; Will the calculator for the copper pipe version of the jpole work for a ladder line and copper wire version ?
Thanks in advance. you guys are great

i can't help with a answer . but the antenna sounds different . can you post a few pics of it please ?

thanks

If you use the typical numbers for finding the correct 'size' for a "J"-pole, it shouldn't make a huge difference if it's made form copper tubing or ladder line. You still have to do some adjusting with either, which is entirely normal. That adjusting is usually in finding the correct feed point on the 'U' shaped bottom portion, which amounts to an impedance matching device. It's about like adjusting the gamma match on a beam, no two of them are ever exactly the same, that's because of how/where the thing is mounted.

Thanks for the input guys i am extremely thankful .
The upper length of wire is about 16'6" and the lower U section is about 8'2".
I will try to get a decent picture of it on my phone in a few minutes.
Thanks again guys and gals

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
