my old 135 has been sitting idle for a few years and i somehow forgot the code to allow it to tx out of band, the mod on mods.dk does not work on my jrc and i cannot find any other mod listed anywhere,
fortunately i remembered the code for mine and im cooking on gas again,

press memo and funcham together
press 140 then press enter then press 1 and key the mic,

(memo/funcham) 140 enter 1

that works on mine and if i ever forget again i have somewhere to find it lol..

Ah good 'ol keypad mods. Gotta luv 'em. Reminds me of the AR3500. Had to go through like a 21 step routine...precisely now...don't mess up...but then you got the extra frequencies. What a riot

Bob, thank you !

Just got a jst 135 for the collection (i collect jrc) and did a google search on the mars mod.

That linked me to this site, and there we are....5 years later...amazing isnt it :-)

Ill try it later, at least now know where too look.

works great !

Just had a few qso's with it on a vertical (you know which one :-)

Im just so impressed by this trx.

Surely there are those who score higher on the sherwood list, but some how it just seems to "fit" my ear.

Kind regards,

H>

Mod worked perfectly, but power on/off it cleared the mod. Had to repeat the process again. Oh well, I only wanted to see if it worked since I only hang out on the ham bands anyway :)

Interesting company. They were based out of NY, unlike most of the other Japanese companies on the west coast. There was a place rather close to me called Gilfer shortwave. They were the prime dealer of JRC around here. The guy that worked there, actually went to work for JRC, as I saw him at Dayton at their booth. They weren't around too much longer.

I never owned one. Almost a few times, but never did. I was familiar with the GE stuff, that JRC made for them. Bulletproof stuff....MPA, MPD, Rangr

I have a bunch of JRC stuff. Three JST-135s (including an HP variant), five NRD-525s, three NRD-535Ds, three NRD-515s and an NSD-515 plus a RAY-152 (rebadged JSB-176) and accessories. The -HP and an NRD-525 are run as twins. I built a custom interface cable and run another -525 (w/ PLAM board) as twins with the RAY-152. Two NRD-515s plus the NSD-515 form a "triplets" station while the other is a secondary receiver for my FT-901 station.

135/525 setup is the best 10/12M receiver I have ever used, bar none. The -HP has a 2.8KHz filter fitted to one of the Option slots and can be selected on transmit. Everyone loves the audio (run with an MD-1 mic - the pinouts are the same). Another has a 2.4KHz filter and gets good reports too. The stock 2.2KHz filter is somewhat narrow but gives good DX punch and I can switch between them as desired.

For those who are interested in JRC stuff I own and maintain the "JRC SWL/Amateur" group on Groups.IO, and another member owns the "JRC Marine" group.
