JLS,
What is the model number of the Kenwood microphone you are using? Or what model of Kenwood transceiver was the microphone attached to "in a previous life"?
Helpful to know as some electret condenser microphones require power from the transceiver to operate. If your Kenwood microphone is one of those, it could complicate things trying to wire it up to your Cobra 29.
It appears from the picture supplied that this is from a handi-talkie. Looks like it has a speaker and microphone in it. You may be able to get the microphone portion to work(but will require a low voltage source from the Cobra 29-not already supplied at the microphone jack) but probably won't get the speaker function to work without some major reworking of the internals of your Cobra 29.
Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
