keying a pdx 400

just wondering is it possible to key up a pdx 400 with the key jack on the back side? it would be convient for me to key with a hand or foot switch like some heathkits and such,,,,has any one ever done this? just wondering,,,,, thanks 73 midnight special central fl
 

never mind after doing some testing apparently the rca jack that is marked key is unhooked and not working,,,,,,or maybe was unhooked for the keying circuit to work,,
 
It was for a morse-code key. That amplifier was sold with the fiction that it was a ham-only CW transmitter.

When it was delivered to the customer, a set of instructions would show up in the mail soon after. Showed how to hook up the keying circuit and turn it back into a non-legal 11-meter linear. A socket for a large ham-type crystal on the front panel would get removed and replaced by the "SSB" switch.

The FCC closed this loophole fairly fast, and shut down D&A forever around 1980.

nomad,,, when i had this pdx repaired a while back the guy said i could put a foot switch or hand switch in the key rca jack but i never seen it done nore found any thing on the net,,,so i put a switxh in and it did nothing,,, i was just try to make it easier for me to use,,,,this my second pdx 400,,, i have had it about 20 years and the first one i had in 1979,,,,thanks for the info,, i wished mine could do ssb but neither of the ones i had or have did it,, both still had the crystal socket,,,,there is so little on the net and wished i did have few more information about it,,,,
