I found one of my old mobiles an got bored an started placing around with it does anyone remember what the wire in the back that's hard-wired in from the factory is for ? It's next to the ext.spkr. jack . I have another but just have not found it yet to see if it's the same , just cleaning up the shack an getting ready to get rid of some of these dinosaurs ! Thanks ! ( It's a double wire )

I don;t know what it would be other than the 12v power cord. Those radios were pretty basic so if it's something in addition to the power cord it was probably added after the fact. Can you post a picture?

Thanks , but it looks factory I'm try to do a little more research an find the other one I have to see if its the same . After being into CB over 40 years I have stuff all over the place !lol

As I recall Lafayette (or, as some used to call them, Laff-a-lot) had some type of proprietary security device built in. Either that, or it was a pigtail power lead for their 'priv-a-talk' accessory which was sort of a primitive attempt at CTCSS.

Never was a big Lafayette fan although they did have some good radios.
