Lincoln Receive mod

Hello,

Detail Man is on the right track..

If your going mobile, I would consider the diodes and the transisitor. (But leave D101 alone)

The 2sc2999 is probably a better replacement, the NTE is a generic replacement and can have too much gain. I have seen others mention the 2SC2999.

The Noise reduction and RX gain is well worth it.

If you are looking for Components, see:

Good prices,

The D111 and D112 are good mods. I did that on my Lincoln's.

Without having the rf gain it helped on setting the squelch and still

got good receive on the am side. At first when I would set the squelch to full quieting, I wasn't getting out more than a mile at best. After the exchange it more than doubled my am receive and still was able to quiet down the static. My only complaint about the Lincoln is the lack of the rf gain. I'd rather have the rf gain and just set the dk internally anyhow. JMHO

BTW.... on most days I was receiving 5 miles or better front and back after the mod with full quiet on the squelch. Of course conditions really make a difference as well.

I was wanting to do one of these mods to my Lincoln but im not sure which one. The receiver is very good on my Lincoln but it is quiet. Which mod works the best to raise the receive audio???

Thanks

Receive mod

Hello there,

My name is Tjen and i am from Holland. I bought mij Pres. Lincoln a year ago and after working with this rig i found my rf a bit noisy and went to search on the internet for a fix to improve the receive capabilities of the Lincoln and found mr. Rogerbird's site

I've tried the mod with the replacement of the 2SC1674 with a 2SC2999 and removing the diode D101. Unfortunately i didn't get the original 2SC2999 but the replacement BF198 (different leg configuration). The first thing i noticed is that the noise is much less than witch the 2SC1674 but also stations i work with dropped in signalstrength, they were normally at around 7 or eight on the 'S' scale but with the mod and the BF198 they didn't even manage to get the 'S' meter to move at all!. I adjusted the L101 as suggested in the modificationsheet but that didn't do the job as well. So i placed back the original components D101 and 2SC1674. With that i did get back my signalstrength but the noise as well.

By the way, i also noticed that with the mod i did as described above that it also affected the other modes like FM and SSB??

So my question is.... is causing the BF198 as a replacement for the 2SC2999 the problem with the RF? I ordered a 2SC2999 to install it this week hopefully

Please help cause i like my Linc to perform well particulair on the receive part
