Yeah, it's interesting that Palstar bought the Commander line of amps. I didn't realize that until about a month ago. They are solid amps that can last you a lifetime. Those Tokyo Hi-Power solid state amps are nice, too. I've personally talked to a couple of people on the air that are using them and they rave about them. I would seriously consider one for the shack if I needed to replace the tube amp.
I would buy solid state as next one. Can be operated seconds after powering-up, on stand-by tube type is consuming a lot of power to keep tubes glow, solidstate not. They are more compact and fool proof.
I'm using russian made tube type anyway

Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
