What is the best thing to use for a sleeve on the cord when installing a mic jack on a small diameter cord? The cord is the same size or slightly less than the plug even fully tightened. The strain relief boots I find are not made correct for this. Does anyone make tubing specifically for this? Thanks for any information.

Some guys have said they use stacked up heat shrink but I personally found that gutting a black 3 wire extension cord and then using that jacket works great as well as looking original. Wallyword sells a 6' black extension cord for about 5 bucks which is what I used.

Had some mike cords that were a perfect fit for the stripped-off jacket from RG-8X "mini-8" coax. The ends that got stripped off to install a PL259 get saved for this purpose.

I second the RG8X outer jacket pieces, I used to use them in years gone past. We (shop I used to work for) used Astatic mic cords that we bought in bulk, and I used coax outer pieces (saved) for such purpose.
