Microset 10 Meter Amp

I bought this amp, import from Italy. It has some good reviews.......
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Linear-Ampl.../331836193253?ssPageName=ADME:X:RRNTB:US:3160

I overlooked one small item, it is 24 volt! yea call me a idiot or whatever but I'm stuck with it now. Seller wont take a return. Why they sell to the USA not compatible with 12 volts who knows.

Anyone know if there is a fix or way to convert a 24 volt amp to 12 volt?

Thanks, 392

Well lots of planes and certainly boats have 24 volt systems so why not sell anywhere in the world? Most marine radios are 24 volt other than the 25 watt VHF stuff. It is up to the buyer to know what they are buying and it does clearly state that it is for 24 volt systems.
Sorry to say but you may be stuck with it unless you ran a second battery in series with it but then charging is an issue and is just not worth it.

OK who is going to be the first to mention a motor maul? LOL

Like I said I know that now but it is listed as a CB amp and other CB equipment, even from overseas, has always been 12 volt... Anyway do you know if there is a fix? Thanks

sounds like you need to talk with the PayPal people,.......

Dont know about in the US. Here there are more 24v trucks on the road than 12v these days.!

You would have to see what the RF devices in the amp are!
My guess is they are 24v devices and they would have to be replaced in order to convert it to 12v. It's most likely not cost effective to do so.
Or you could buy a 24volt switch mode supply and run it from home.

Open it up and post some pics, there probably isn't much worth doing that would make it run on 12v but you don't really know if you don't know what's inside that thing.

PS: A motor maul would get it running.
