This is what it sounds like..

Not bad for a cheap Chinese microphone.

Is this Ranger mic technically the same as the one supplied with the 2970N2 and 2970N4? But without the channel up down buttons?

Also, could one plug speakers or headphones to the PA socket of the radio and hear one self's audio?cheers.

Works great on my 980, I don't like it for my S45. The stock Mic is king for that radio. I have used it with my old school Uniden Grant but I get better reports with a Red Devil mic. The plus side of using the sra in my pickup is that if somebody tries to carjack me I can knock them over the head with that mic.

It made my Uniden 980 sound sweet. I’m planning to use it in my new Galaxy, I just need to swap connectors on it again.

I bought one for my mobile. The gain seems a little low. I changed out the mic gain resisters I get full modulation and zero background noise when driving. Its a really good noise canceling mic!

Road devil is still my favorite, a power mic with noise cancelling. Only mic I've run for the last 5 years mobile. I do a lot of driving in a noisy truck and it does the best at giving me punchy audio without picking up the road noise.

Power Mic and Noise Canceling are kind of like Oxymorons just like "Jumbo Shrimp". 5 years is a drop in the bucket. Let me know when you have at least 18 years with that mic! LOL

Personally, I have never been impressed with that mic. Generally to be "noise canceling" they sound tinny and thin.

Sadly just about all the mics on the market today are absolute junk. RF Limited had a good mic in the CR557 but they let that go. It did have some noise issues but instead of fixing it they just seemed to stop making them.

I am not one that worships at the altar of ceramic or salt crystal microphones. I do not care if it dynamic, electret, ribbon mic etc....I just want a good sounding mic that has a ptt switch good for at least a 1 million cycles. If they can not do that and give it a body that will not crack and fail with time they need to drastically lower the price! That is why for the most part I by old mic's and rebuild them. I can by an old mic body with a solid ptt switch from the 1950's-1980's rebuild it and have less money in it and have a much better mic than the POS's they sell today for top dollar. If it is made in China it should be selling for $10 not $49!!! The modern Astatics are not worth their weight in dirt they are one step better than two soup cans with some string! This is true of just about every mic marketed at the CB market!

Both Shure and ElectroVoice make N/C mics for mobile radio applications. Even tho I do not own either of those, I'll bet that either one will blow the doors off of the Ranger mic. But at a price, since they are both over $100. They do make cheaper models with different freq response and sensitivities. I'll bet even the cheaper mics will still beat the Ranger mic w/o much problem. They have been making quality mics for well over five decades and also have N/C technology pretty much nailed down too . . .

Might want to check your PC, OLT.
It appears it might have been infected with the infamous "Numbers Racket" virus which randomly substitutes incorrect digits. Pretty sure you meant to say, and likely typed CR577, before the virus reared its ugly head. ;)

The CR577 was very loud and easy to tailor to one's liking.
    My all-time favorite.

Yes I have about 6 EV's from the 1980's and 6 Shures from the 1980's and all of those are NOS with leaf switches. I have 2 amplified nose canceling EV aircraft mic's. 2 EV's that are lightly used but they are prewired for Ten-Tec and they are the 602E, EL or 602F that is insanely high fidelity so I do not mind that they are lightly used. I have about 6 Shures that are amplified noise canceling andall of these are not consumer level batter powered they are all powered by the mic cord. I have 2 NOS Realistic Noise Canceling Power mic's I think the TRC-21-77 the late model ones that used 2 AAA batteries not the 21-75 I think that used the Mercury 7V battery those where made by Sony for them and kicked but not sure about the latter ones I have. I have about 20-30 Gentex NASA high end aviation grade electrets that have RFI/Humidity/Moisture protection. I have 3 NOS Military EV mics. I have 4 Bruel & Kjaer Electret Mic elements, a couple of Astatics and on and on.....I have crystal Harp Mic's and I also have studio gear! Shucks I forgot about the Uniden Mics and the Murrata(sp) mics and the primo's.

If I had to use 2 new mics a year every year I could got he next 20 years and not have to buy another mic!

Electro Voice is originally from Buchanan Michigan and Heath Kit was from Benton Harbor Michigan. I have lived in Michigan since 1993. Electro Voice and Telex where huge in Aviation mics so I have a lot of NOS Aviation mic the high end ones not the low grade carbon mics.I have some other old plain jane generic CB mics too.

Oh I have a NOS K40 Compression mic too.

Because I have so many NOS EV's and Telex's I am a hard customer to please today the cheap junk does not do it for me! I expect a lot of mic if you want to charge me $28+ let alone a $49+. I am sadly disapointed almost every time I turn around when it comes to mic's for CB today!
