Talking to my friend Little John yesterday when coming home from Arkansas, and while I didn't know it at the time, Matt W5MIX recorded us. Rough and tough conditions, for sure, but we had a decent qso at about a 430 mile distance. Despite the limitations of the ATAS-120A, the system works pretty well.

Canyon Lake? I am impressed that is a tough area for radio. River road and highway 306 were part of my old stomping grounds.
Yeah, I was just west of Texarkana, and I think he had just gotten off work. He lives near Canyon Lake. Having fun with this little mobile setup, that's for sure!

Heard back from John. He is running a Yaesu FT-450AT, a 2 transistor Worth-more amp at about 300 watts, and a Larry's antennas screwdriver antenna.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
