for once a husband wants to talk with the Boss!!! is the second radio a selling point for the wife to buy off on this??? after a few leg humpers trying to "chat" with her on air, she'll be right back to the cell phone.
save for one good radio for the rig and if you can swing for a base. think about home owner convenents, base station antenna mounts, power supplies, see where this is going?
from what I know:
galaxy - had a new 979 that would drifted when modulated too much talking.
everyone's talking about the magnum's 257hp - thier is an issue right now with QC, keep looking around.
rci 2950 dx - industry standard.
grants (if you can find them) are great talkers out of ther box and with a power mic / kicker.
don't forget about antennas, power feeds, mounting brackets.... could write a book. pull a chair and start to be overwhelmed.
