Thanks Capt. Do you have any idea how much better? Have you compared both side by side? There aren't many repeaters here and I want to talk home when the spaghetti hits the fan. That would entail me buying two SSB units without ever trying it.

You wont find any 2m vhf rigs that are SSB unless you buy old or get HF/VHF rigs like the Ft-857 or such. They just dont make them anymore. There may be one out there but they are mega pricey.

MFJ still sells 2 meter SSB rigs. They are actually pretty decent, no FM though.

I don't need any arrogance or snotty opinions by asking this question. I am in the learning phase and want to work toward getting my ticket. If I knew everything, then I wouldn't need to join forums unless I wanted to show my dominance and supperior intelect and make other people feel stupid...

Roadrage, for the purpose of clarity, could you define the term "irony" for the rest of us? Because I think I encapsulated it in the first few sentences of your quote.

How does stepping on a bunch of people you don't even know (in the war against combatting *ahem* arrogance) make you feel? Feel better?

Pop quiz... do you think your chances of being helped by others are enhanced by:

a) shitting on them?
b) appealing to their good nature?

Hint: Answer "A" is probably not the way to go.

And, as a current service-member with 23 years of active-duty under my belt (with 4 combat deployments), I certainly don't appreciate you behaving as though your service is an excuse to act like an asshole. I suggest you seek professional help if you require it.

If you're half as intelligent as I believe you to be, when someone tells you, "thank you for your service," your response had better be, "No, thank you." In case you weren't smart enough to notice, it's those hard-working private-sector taxpayers that are paying our salaries.
