Im helping a friend of mine set up dual antennas but one will be a dummy antenna. but anyway the mounts are in a aluminum toolbox with rubber between the bed rails and tool box. so im pretty sure its not grounded good.so i ran a ground wire from the mount to the frame. The SWR when you key the mike it pegs the guage. The radio is a Cobra 29 NW. Its not the radio we hooked my Wilson 1000 mag mount and the SWR was about 1.4 and it worked fine. Anybody got any ideas what could be the problem?

What part of the mount? Sounds like you have it connected directly to the hot. It should be from one of the mounting bolts.

1. What does it do without the ground wire?

2. Can you try a different section of coax?

3. Can you post a pic of the mount?
