Need to splice outside coax

The lightning arrestors case would be connected to a ground rod. They are useless without one. As for them going "pop", buy a better unit. I.C.E makes a better unit than the Polyphaser brand. There have been several complaints about the Polyphaser units tripping on much less than legal limit. It appears that the I.C.E brand will stand up to full legal limit and then some and a bit more after that. Check out the Eham reviews of the Polyphasers. I was going to order them until I started digging up some info and opted for the I.C.E. brand instead. Now if Array Solutions would only hurry up and ship the damn things. :censored:

they have a voltage rating and are only good for a certain amount of AC Voltage that can run through them . good luck trying to find one that can handle more than 300 watts .

No luck needed just knowledge. These ICE units have been well documented on various ham sites to well surpass the Polyphaser line and stand up to legal limit.

If it is for a single band antenna, install a shorted quarter wave transmission line with a Tee connector. The entire antenna is placed at DC ground, good for whatever power capacity the rest of the line is rated, and it's cheap.

I have been thinking about that for my 2m and 6m feedlines which will be just mono band feedlines but obviously can't do that for the multiband HF feedlines.

I have two of the ICE units and have run up to 2500 watts through them (on 75 meters even) and have never had one fail.

Good to know. Quality products yield quality results. I take it the 2500 watts was on MARS duty?

Of course :) We (MARS) now have a 1KW (AVG) power limit on most frequencies, although to be honest, who's watching? The 2500 watts was a SSB active Peak meter reading.
