Yes, they are junk I bought one new and within 3 month's the switch went bad!!!

I didn't buy a new one, they don't even make then new anymore. Mine is about 20 years old. The new Astatic is the 878 and I hear they are crap but they are also no comparision to the old 1104c

I have a few and no problems and they all work fine for me I use them on my uniden pc 78
