It's not the amp, but the cost of the tube. When I bought an AL-1500 in 1998, it was $2400 with an Eimac 8877. Medical pulls could be had for $300. Now? $4200 for a new tube!

I have heard of folks that spend nearly a thousand dollars for a CB radio-add all the "Hot Rod" goodies the "Golden Screwdriver" puts into it and the price can be over 2 thousand dollars!
Are they Rich? Maybe? Priority Driven? Could be.......

D-rail, soft tune and snake radios are all 1k and up on cb radios

I have a lot of money at least to me its a lot invested in my hf and 11 meter stuff. I am not rich by any means but the return of what I get out of it is worth every penny I have spent and more.
