they improve in areas and lower the bar in others. but overall most new radios outshine old.to a point..and suprizingly how many new off the shelf choices we have
i think bck to my e.f. johnson 123a. noisy but it worked. i was a kid driving a semi on farm exhemption in 73. i put it in the truck. diesel engine n noisy in it too. then i paid radio shop $ 20. to open it up put a toggle switch in back n get a huge power increase a whopping 21 lip burning watts

I had the 123 B I believe it was, could get an extra channel if the selector know would stay in between, good ole radios.

my 123a wouldnt et betweek channels. tried and as long as you held knob it worked

I spoke with an operator in Socal yesterday. Don't remember his ID, but he said he was testing new Pres Washington with a KL503 for a customer. Setup sounded great. Loud and clear. So the washington looks like a good performer, but I will still keep my Q6PRO.

My Q6PRO has been relegated to the mobile, but I did get a spare. Seems a shame to turn down a 100w radio to 15-17w to drive an amp. At least put a 703 behind it.

My Washington sounds terrific with the Rocketbox HD 500, I get great reports all the time. Even without the extra whiskeys it sounds good, especially with the free Digimike I got with it.

I recently bought a QT-60 for base use. I really like it.

The President Washington is basickly an over priced Ares II, AT-5555, 6666 etc....

It is not like it is not being built by the same people that make the above radio's! It does not offer anything that far cheaper radio's from the same manufacture already offers. I am sure Presidents customer service and warrranty will be better but at.

I do like the user interface and face layout.

They would have to give me a lot more than they have for me to pay the President Premium Tax!
