New President Washington Mobile Radio?

congrats on you buying new washington, AK#5: and gcook must not be married,or great at hiding new radios
No, I've been married for more than three decades. Permission from my wife isn't needed, before I buy anything (never has been, I wear the pants). There's an entire room in our house dedicated to two-way radio. Only eight radios are CBs (six are still in their boxes).

I've been married 37 years. I buy equipment and then ask for forgiveness afterward. LOL, she doesn't care, as long as the bills are paid. And I wear the pants in this relationship also. She might tell me which ones I'll be wearing, but by golly I'm wearing em! Seriously though, after 37 years we have a system that works for us. Some may look at it and think we're both crazy, but both of us are happy with the way it works. She probably has the best of the situation, but I have no complaints. I use the happy wife, happy life theory. It works for us.

10-4, good to hear. Not that many of us left.

Got the radio, and I'm tickled with it. The NRC does it's job, but the warbling of weaker signals will take some getting used to.

Although I'm pretty pleased with it, I still think nothing beats the older rigs.
I sold mine, i liked it but it didn't like amplifiers. Was either not enough or not enough. No low power swing and high power wasn't high enough. Great radio to run barefoot as a base though, it just wasn't loud enough as a mobile in the diesel.

I'll never understand why they didn't just put the RF power adjustment in the menu, instead of having to key up the radio to adjust it. Other than that, it's pretty good.

they improve in areas and lower the bar in others. but overall most new radios outshine old.to a point..and suprizingly how many new off the shelf choices we have
i think bck to my e.f. johnson 123a. noisy but it worked. i was a kid driving a semi on farm exhemption in 73. i put it in the truck. diesel engine n noisy in it too. then i paid radio shop $ 20. to open it up put a toggle switch in back n get a huge power increase a whopping 21 lip burning watts
