Howdy, new here and looking for a new radio. Started out with a yaesu 2500 and then a 2800 and now a 2900. also just picked up a HT 2m/70cm Quansheng tg uv2(hope its worth the 80bucks...) Anyway, want to put my 2900 as a base setup and get a dual band for my truck. Whats good? Only ever used yaesu, but i am between the yaesu 8800 and the kenwood v71a and im open to other brands as well.

Thanks
Josh

If I were to use one in a vehical, it would be the kenwood v71a. It has a built in ID'er, which gives you cross band repeat. It can be set to ID on both bands.

The 2900 makes a great base rig,I have one that I use mobile and I love it !! For an antenna Jetstream has a couple of nice base antennas that are decent priced

The 8800 is a nice radio as well....would make a nice mobile rig !!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
