new to Digital Master 780 need info

i have Digital Master 780 but not sure on how to work it. i can see signals on the waterfall but the text in the display is all mixed up. does not make sences.

now i do not have a radio hooked up to the pc. i was just trying to rx untill i get a compatible rig to use with it.

any ideas ?

do i have to have a radio inline to rx? or do i just have the setings wrong?

You need a radio hooked up and receiving on the bands you are wanting to monitor. To receive, all you need is a simple audio patch cable from the ext speaker jack of the rig to the "sound in" or "mic in" ports on your computer.

You can get such a cable at radio shack.

Yep, until you get the radio hooked up, DM can't decode anything. Once you get that done, try putting it on a PSK31 frequency and you should start seeing stuff . BTW, check out it's satellite tracking functionality and it's integration with google earth. It's pretty cool!

yep,... thats why most (all?) interfaces have opto-isolators in them
