Next radio on the desk is an old Galaxy Melaka.

Reason for visit:

1. S-Meter showing very low signals, although the receive is awesome for its age.

2. AM mode light out.

3. Distorted audio, prolly been clipped, snipped.

4. Clarifier not centering on any mode. AM mode is around 2 o'clock position, LSB around 9 o'clock position, USB around 4 o'clock position.

5. Transmit frequency not lining up with receive frequency.

6. Electrolyte cap check and replace if needed.

7. Complete alignment.

I did notice the receive must be jacked up, cause if nearby stations unkey then the receive delays for .5 seconds before coming back. Like the receive is being overloaded by nearby stations.

Letting it sit with covers on and radio turned on overnight before starting on it.

Something is activating the AGC delay normally used only for sideband and CW. AGC for AM receive should fade very quickly.

Is this a EPT360014B radio? Or is it old enough to have a different main circuit board?

Haven't looked at board number yet. Guessing either 14b or 10a. Prolly the 14b though.

They prolly got a receive mod in it and the receive jacked up too much.

Will check the AGC circuit functionality and receiver front end diodes for age wear.
