Weather can play a part in VHF/UHF transmissions at times....sometimes the weather can help....most of the time (in my experience) it can hamper it

There is also a chance that the repeater owner/caretaker could have either changed the PL tone or maybe even changed the offset..

also HTs are known for needing a "sweet spot' at times to get into a repeater .....Just move around a bit ,sometimes just a couple of feet can make the difference in being able to access a repeater or not

Which may not be enough. If you're "coming in weak", obviously having the radio switched to "high" isn't "high enough."

This much makes sense to me at this point:

a) check your battery level
b) get a 'better' or external antenna
c) check the output of the radio with a meter

I am back on the air. A few people said they had the same problem I did, so glad to know its not me.
