Not quite ready for prime time. Clone army.

Sure brings to mind the old saw "Run it up the flagpole and see who urinates on it".

Does remind me of a sudden surge in repair business we had around '97 or so. Got a flood of radios and amplifiers come in during what would have been our "slow" season in summer. Puzzled over it until a customer asked when I was retiring. Wanted to get his stuff fixed before we closed. Naturally I replied not any time soon. Turned out someone on the radio had started the rumor and it just spread. Started telling them that if I retired I would publish the plans for a "all 40 channels at once" gadget. That way they would have something to remember me by. At the time the internet was almost totally text only. No graphics, no pictures videos or MP3s. The first web sites were appearing but not all that many. Seemed a hollow threat at the time.

But here it is 2024 and I "published" the schematic. Here. Not any mystery to the design. Anyone who wants can make as many copies as they like.

Just don't get too excited about seeing it on fleabay very soon. The project pipeline has a long list of higher priorities in it. Mostly I tend to prioritize stuff people keep asking for.

Mostly.

The DX55V radio in the "how to" post belongs to a decades-long customer who asked for it. With any luck he has heard the phrase "With great power comes great responsibility".

Maybe. Then again the banjo-music guy has bugged out to the ham bands, or so I'm told. Doesn't talk on 11 meters any more, just gums it up. Don't think he ever heard that line.

I guess it's worth stirring the nest from time to time and see who flies out to sting you.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
