NPC/RC mod for RCI 2995DXCF ???

High SP5IT, I know this is an old thread but I just picked one of these 2995dx radios up and am going to do this mod. Question is about upgrading Q67, on some of the other radios I've done (galaxy) we replace the sb754 with a 2sb817 and a 2sa1012 as the companion part (q67) I have a few of them in stock do you think it would be safe (if the board can handle it) to do this instead of the 2sa1869. Thanks Ira

you'll be fine with the 2sa1012.
and if you're going to add a second final, you should upgrade that AM regulator to something like the 2sb817 or a TIP36.

Thanks Mike, I do a modified version of the mod without volting the finals mainly do it to keep the modulation clean by controlling the negative peaks and for full out put from a low dead key to drive the amp. On the older boards I've been using the 817/1012 combo with great results the 817 runs way cooler than the 754 and have seen well over 100% modulation with keeping the wave form clean on the scope. As always thanks for the help. Ira
