Obscure Royce Export? Can you identify?

There should be an ID tag on the back of the radio (that you did not post a picture of) with that information on it.

How did your friend manage to run accross this thing? I've got at least one similalr modified but also did he look inside, does it look modified?

73's, Retro
He mentioned nothing about noticing any mods. Sweet radio though. This is off Facebook when i suggested he post more pics and post the question here also he got kinda salty with me but i decided to be a nice guy and see if i can get him some info on this rig. Maybe its the drugs for my back but i feel like being nice for a minute hahaha

Looks exactly like a Kraco 2500. Looks like a rearranged version of a Sommerkamp TS-340 too.

Edit: The internet shows two different pictures of the Kraco 2500, one that looks like that Royce and another that looks like the Sommerkamp 340, so maybe there are some parallels.

Edit 2: according to AI, and some of you probably knew this, but it seems Royce was part of Kraco.

Another interesting parallel is that @Klondike Mike has a cap kit that appears to fit the Kraco 2500/SBE LCMS-4/Royce 1-639. If the cap kits are the same....

Maybe Klondike Mike knows something. The 639 looks just like the sommerkamp I mentioned

The 1-639 has a schematic on CBTricks too

OK, im done digging, tag, someone else is it lol

Well this one I own and it has been modded inside with a kind of early version of Digimax or something similar. Gets Alphas, up past ch 85 and don't remember now how low freq wise it goes. They used a different type of digits too!

73 take care, Retro

The front of that radio is exactly like a kraco 2500 I have down here, except my kraco is black. It also only has 40 channels atm.
Didn't know for over a week what brand it was as it had no labels at all.

This radio is the same as: Royce 1-639, Pace 8093 and SBE LCMS-4
Apparently the Sommerkamp TS-340DX is a clone as is the Globephone GS480-DX.
Someone mentioned that a "Colonel Silver Star" is as well.

SAMs Photophact CB285 for the Pace 8093
Also mentioned in Secret CB Vol 11, 12, 13, 15, 22 and most tips are in Vol 26.

print board nr: YG-214294V-1 CPS-9009

That's about all I have on it.

Here's my take on these radios, a view from across the pond.

They do look very familiar in their layout and most definately made in Korea. There were several similar radios here in the UK, the WKS 100/1001, Colonal 360 and the Stag 359. There were also several differences internally with PLL's and crystals (they had a lot of crystals inside and a big relay). Some had the LC7120, some had the MC145106, some had 40 channels and some had 120, the WKS 1001 had a 5 digit frequency readout driven from the channel changer and 120 channels but not sequential on the higher bands.

As radios go they're not considered high end but they do work really well and sound great on the air. Still sought after here too. Hope this helps.
