I would like everyone's opinion on a good desk mike for a Yaesu 767GX. Thanks for the answers.

For my FT-990, I went "pawn shopping" and found a Shure SM-58 mic. ,a 8"-14" adjustable desk stand & a 25ft. mic. cable (I shortened) for $40. I had them hook up the mic. to a amp they had and tried it out and then gave it my technical inspection of shakeing it to see if it would rattle I looked around the net and only found one desk top PTT switch I liked and it was $69 ! I made my own with a $1.99 switch from rat shack and a old mouse and cable.I gutted the mouse, drilled a hole in the right side mouse button and installed the switch and doubled up the wires in the mouse cable and soldered a end to fit the radio.I also made a lead slug by melting down some old tire weights and put it where the ball was for a better "feel".I used it all weekend and had no problems I would suggest "pawn shopping" and check out the mic.s they have and see if one has the sound you are looking for, I came out much cheaper than a MD-1 etc.
